After earning a bachelors degree in accounting I worked for firms in San Francisco and eventually started my own bookkeeping and income tax practice. Eight years later I sold that business, went back to college and changed careers to instructional design. But I didn’t leave my accounting roots behind.
Eventually I migrated to teaching and have taught at various community colleges and for-profit schools in the Sacramento area. The subjects that I’ve taught include: accounting, finance, Microsoft Office applications, QuickBooks, human resource management, and economics.
I started writing on a regular basis for Examiner.com in 2009. It was pretty much a labor of love and it got me into the habit of writing on a regular basis. I was Examiner.com’s Financial Literacy Examiner and I wrote about personal finance issues that meant a lot to me.
Later that year I joined the team of freelance writers for Gale Cengage Publishing where I wrote articles for clients that they obtained. These clients included: Realtor.com and Suntrust Mortgage LiveSolid.
In 2011, Gale started three blogs to help market their content sites: Highbeam Research, Highbeam Business and Questia. I wrote primarily for those blogs during 2011 and 2012. In 2013 I have added the Cengage Brain blog to my venues.
Now I am using my background in business along with my teaching and instructional design experience to branch out into content marketing for businesses.
